Acceleration Testing, Training Programs and Results!

Acceleration has been enhancing sports performance since the year 2000.  We offer athletes the chance to improve their athleticism and rehabilitate from injury through scientific testing and customised speed, strength and flexibility training. We have maintained our level of results through the continuous education of our coaches and on-going research and development of our training methods.

Our strong analysis foundation allows us to determine your athletic strengths and weaknesses. Based on these results, a strength, speed, conditioning  and perhaps rehabilitation program is written to improve your ability to compete at the highest possible level.

You will find the test results very interesting as well because you will learn a lot about your body and discover the small but significant things you can do now to incur results in your speed, running form and flexibility straight away.

 Your Sports Performance Testing Session will include the following tests:

- Anthropometrics (Height, Weight)  

- Function ROM/Manual Muscle Tests (eg Scapula Winging, Dorsiflexion, Prone Shoulder Elevation, etc.)

- Power (Vertical Jump, Medicine Ball Overhead Throw)

- Speed & Agility (20m Dash, Pro-shuttle)
   
It has taken years of study and research to develop these tests.  The information attained from these tests can sometimes be quite profound, however you will find the video analysis of your speed and agility tests to be truly enlightening. 

Running Form Video Analysis:
One of our Performance Coaches will review a video of your speed and agility tests and determine the flaws you have in your running form.  You will have the chance to see yourself run in slow motion which we have found to improve your running technique and speed immediately.  This test along with the previous tests and your training goals will deterrmine what exercises your coach includes in your strength, conditioning, speed and flexibility programs.  Your video will be stored for a later date and then used as a comparison to any new video.  Your test results will be available to view online as well.

  Video Analysis Results and Outcomes:

From this athlete's video analysis we found several flaws and weaknesses.  Three of the results we got from this analysis were:

  • Landing flat on his foot. This causes deceleration and decreases stride rate.
  • Not lifting the knee up to 90 degrees.  Without this technique, the stride is lacking power. 
  • Hip rotatation and dropping. This indicates weakness in the gluts. This poor running form adds excessive stress to the lumbar spine and can possibly cause stress fractures.
 Strength and Conditioning Program  

To help correct these problems, this athlete's program includes:

  • Db Calf Raises. To increase the physical strength and the mental confidence to run on the balls of the feet.
  • Trigger Point - Hip Flexors. Done prior to running, this unblocks the hips so to allow the athlete to raise his knees another 10 degrees.
  • Glut/Box - Bent Knee. To activate and strengthen the Gluteal Musculature and therefore reduce hip rotation.

We perform these tests and review your running form so that we can educate you and write the best possible training program for you.  We do this because we want to get you results.
